I was standing in the queen's toilet. I was behind the tour on purpose, I wanted to be here alone. When we looked at the living room, the bedroom, the bed - I didn't feel anything special. I tried to imagine how tired she is undressing, how she lifts the blanket and moans blissfully as she stretches out her tired legs. But it still felt like a fairy tale - still too far from our simple earthly lives. She probably sighs in a nobler way, with a royal accent.
And the toilet doesn't lie.
Toilet matters ungodly - here we are no different.
When the tour ended, I sat down on the toilet.
I saw the wall in front of me, which the queen was also looking at at those moments. I saw shiny knobs and a roll of paper - and the paper is the same as we have at home and it does the same thing.
For a moment I felt that the ceremonial queen was the same person: with a tired body, aging skin, graying hair. And walking the same track as us - through his earthly journey, even lonelier than ours.
Its path leads through manicured lawns, parks and palace stairs, soft carpets, cobbled squares and oak parquet of the palace. But it brings me there. At the end of the track we all meet.
I was also at the end of her track.
That day I was sitting in a theater in London, suddenly in the middle of the show it was announced from the stage that the Queen was gone. People stood up. A minute passed in silence, someone coughed, we stood still and sat down. The show continued.
The show continued, and all that remained of the world's most famous man was a name printed in books, engraved on monuments and slowly fading from memory.
No, it's not the toilet or the bedroom that makes us down-to-earth, ordinary people.
It must be that track. A path we walk uncrowned and unaccompanied.
Even if we hold hands, we walk our path alone.
